What does "QuickDisconnect" mean?
Plantronics QuickDisconnect (also known as "QD") refers to the flat, black, plastic connector at the end of each Plantronics H-series headset and each Polaris P-series headset. H-series refers to headset model numbers starting with the letter "H".
Benefits of QuickDisconnect
The QD permits you to leave your desk while wearing your headset. You just have to separate the two QD pieces to leave your desk and put them back together when you get back. This removes the need to constantly take your headset on and off and readjust it on your head or ear each time you must leave your desk. The QD acts as an "on hold" function, also. If you separate during a call, just snap the QD pieces back together to continue your call.
The most general way of connecting any H-series Plantronics headset to a telephone:
It is essential that the QD at the end of your headset cord connect to a responding QD so that it interfaces with your telephone (as clarified further below). For most of the single- and multi-line phones used today, we suggest the M12 Vista amplifier/adapter. The M12 is referred to as the "universal adapter" because of its extensive compatibility. If you are in search for a cordless solution, the Plantronics CA10 also includes a QD connector cord that works with any "H" series headset (sold separately). The Plantronics CS10 is just like the CA10 except that the CS10 includes its own headset that plugs into the remote pack with a 2.5 mm plug and does not have QD. The CA10 and CS10 cordless solutions can be used with the sizable majority of single- and multi-line telephones.
Is it easy to install?
Set-up is fast and easy! It doesn't matter if you choose a corded (M12 Vista) or cordless (CA10 or CS10) Plantronics solution, you will in all likelihood connect the device through your phone's handset receiver port on the left side of your phone. Just unplug your handset cord from your phone and plug it into the top of the M12 or the bottom of the base of the Plantronics cordless component. Then you'll use a short cord that's provided from your M12 or cordless base back to your handset port. It is just that simple! If your phone has a dedicated headset port, you will connect the M12, CA10 or CS10 to that modular port instead of your modular handset port. Keep in mind that the M12 Vista includes two AA batteries. The cordless units (CA10, CS10, etc.) come complete with an AC adapter.
